Still running. Still learning. Now writing more.
If you’ve followed me on Facebook, you already know a bit of my story — the running tips and advice, the reflections and occasional rants (especially about toxic run groups), and the thoughts I share after each race, whether it’s a PR or a learning or a personal struggle.
But there’s only so much I can say in a Facebook post.
That’s why I created this page solorunner.ph — a place where I can go deeper.
I would like this to be more than just another running blog. It’s a space where I’ll document my journey as a senior runner, a UESCA-certified coach, and a lifelong learner who still believes that personal bests can happen at any age — even after 60.
Why a blog, and why now?
I’ve been thinking about this for a while. I’ve received messages from runners who enjoy my posts — beginners eager to learn, experienced runners returning from injury, late starters finding their rhythm, any many simply trying to stay consistent in midlife and beyond.
Many have asked for more structured advice, deeper stories, and honest thoughts about aging and endurance.
Social media is great but it has its limits. It’s hard to organize content, and sometimes I need to compress thoughts into short captions that barely scratch the surface.
So here, I’ll write about the same things I post on social media — but with more nuance, more structure, and more depth.some readers may want more structured content for easily searchable material.
What you can expect here
In the succeeding posts you’ll find:
- My running journeys: from training blocks to race-day execution — the good, the ugly, and the unexpected.
- Coaching insights: practical, science-backed advice for everyday runners (not just elites).
- Reflections on running after 60: what changes, what stays the same, and what gets better.
- Barebones running advice: I promote my philosophy of running as a cost-effective lifestyle, emphasizing the science-based essentials over fluff
- Tough-love motivation: no fluff, no filters, just the truth about what it takes to keep running when life gets busy and legs get older.
- Gear review (?): Still undecided. I don’t chase hype or expensive trends — and those who follow me know I believe in less gear, more grit.
This is not just for me
Sure, this blog is a personal. But it’s also a resource for others:
- Beginners trying to figure out how to start
- Runners who feel like they’ve started late
- Experienced runners looking for grounded insights
- Coaches who want to share and learn
- Seniors proving that it’s never too late to move
- Anyone who needs a reminder that running isn’t about speed — it’s about staying in the game
Let’s go the distance, together
So whether you’re here because you’ve followed me from social media, run beside me, trained under me, or just stumbled across this blog — welcome to my site!
Bookmark this site. Share it with someone who needs a push.
Leave a comment, ask a question, or follow quietly — all are welcome here.
Because at the end of the day, it’s not about how fast you run — it’s about how far you’re willing to go.
And I’m still going.
